Fashion Week Spring 2010: Prada Handbags
by fashion shop on Apr.01, 2010, under Prada, fashion, fashionable sale

I’m underwhelmed, and I hate being underwhelmed. I’m not a huge fan of Prada’s Fall 2009 offerings, and I’m even less of a fan of Prada Spring 2010. So much so that it kind of makes my head hurt.
Memo to the fashion industry: no one wants clear vinyl bags. No one. You guys tried this crap a few seasons ago and thought it would be cute, and they all ended up on the sale rack at the end of the season, and they didn’t even move particularly quickly once discounted. A clear, architectural hard plastic clutch meant to hold three things for a night out, a la Fendi’s Spring 2010 presentation? That’s clear done well.
But a vinyl gray-tinted clear satchel meant to hold the dreck of everyday life, like tampons and your ATM receipts? No thanks. Do not want. Ever. But that, with some jewels stuck to the top and a canvas tote or two thrown in for good measure, is basically what we got. Since Prada does such a big bag collection for every season, this is probably only the tip of the iceberg and several other non-runway mini lines will eventually surface, but if this is any indication of what’s to come, I’ll take a pass.
Paris: A Rounder Season
by fashion shop on Mar.11, 2010, under LV, fashion

A dress from the fall 2010 Louis Vuitton show in Paris.

Miu Miu.
Louis Vuitton seemed to provide the perfect bookend to the Milan-Paris ready-to-wear season, which ended tonight. Between Miuccia Prada in Milan and Marc Jacobs at Vuitton we saw the return of the lush, full-hipped woman, her breasts served up like ripe fruit. Do those dry, sober minimalists have a chance next to Laetitia Casta, who opened the Vuitton show in a pinstriped gray sundress? Mr. Jacobs’ full-skirted silhouette, with corsets and sometimes a neat little jacket, was somewhere between Brigitte Bardot and Doris Day. The look certainly caught a sexy mood, but if you seriously thought about dragging those gathered skirts around, you’d be tuckered out by the time you reached the corner to hail a taxi.
Ms. Prada effectively closed the Paris season with her Miu Miu show. It was adorable, one of her best, with shapely black wool dresses with scalloped edges, high necks finished with a cord bow, and flowers or buckles in mirrored silver. Some shifts had a stiff, overlapping flounce at the hem, and other dresses and mini coats came in lavender and orange. The music was the 80s, the style had vague overtones of the 60s, but the look was fresh and wearable.
Prada Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign
by fashion shop on Feb.22, 2010, under Prada, fashion

Prada is going back to basics with no multi-model campaigns and no high profile supermodels set to star in their Spring 2010 advertising campaign.
Instead Prada has chosen Lithuanian model Rasa Zukauskaite as the bran fashion by Steven Meisel.

Keep an eye on the castings at Elise Øverland this season: Heidi Klum and her fellow judges from Germany’s Next Top Model (pictured) will be front-row judging their contestants, who will be among the catwalkers. Spoiler alert?
Prada and Fendi have agreed to move their Milan women’s shows to an earlier date, effectively extending fashion week. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the phones at Alitalia ringing furiously as every editor races to reschedule her flight.
Kelly Cutrone wants figure skater Johnny Weir front row at Jeremy Scott. Please, please tell us there’s an Olympic outfit by JS in this kid’s future. (It would make for an epic battle of the unitards with one of Vera Wang’s designs for Evan Lysacek.)
And it turns out that Jersey Shore’s Pauly D. and Blink-182’s Travis Barker have the same “Cadillac” tattoo on their torsos. This message has been brought to you by the Council of Overly Attentive Media Consumers, and presumably lamented through the halls of the Cadillac HQ.

If you know me, you would understand what a shoe freak I am, so this post was pure delight! I worked in Delman, the fancy ladies shoe salon at Bergdorf Goodman in NY back in the early 80’s where gorgeous shoes were part of design.
If you don’t know me, just ask Sharon and she can share some mutual shoe drool stories with you– starting with the time that I found her the most incredible fuchsia, ankle wrap Charles Jourdan disco heels! On second thought, maybe you shouldn’t ask…
To make all you shoe fanatics jealous, I had the distinct pleasure of attending two major shoe events in the same day- the Manolo Blahnick spring preview and the unveiling of the world’s largest shoe department at Galeries Lafayette, Paris.
Manolo Blahnick Spring 2010 CollectionThe press showing of the Manolo Blahnik spring 2010 shoe collection was held at Maria Luisa, a ladies high fashion boutique that exclusively sells Manolo’s in Paris.
